Five things to do in and around Leeds

Emilija Morrison: Business Development Assistant

1. Royal Armouries Museum

Interestingly enough, this is one of the oldest museums in the world - it was initially housed in the Tower of London from the 15th century, though is now based within three sites: the Tower, Fort Nelson and, of course, the Royal Armouries Museum. Entry to the museum is free and the museum has a superb collection of armour. Talks are often hosted here, too.

2. Kirkstall Abbey

This is one is a real gem to visit. Absorb yourself in the exciting 800+ year history of the place, or attend one of the events. Upcoming events include Mindfulness at the Abbey and Yoga at the Abbey… Have you ever tried yoga at an abbey?

3. Roundhay Park

Three miles away from the centre of Leeds, this park is popular amongst locals. It has been popular for a while - I was even able to speak to a former Leeds resident, who fondly remembers the park during the 1950s. It is a great place for a walk, a run or maybe even a picnic. Major events can be held here throughout the year, from a fireworks display to sporting competitions.

4. Harewood House

25 minutes away from the centre by bus, Harewood House is a must-see for stately home fans. Both the house itself and the gardens are incredibly impressive, rich with fascinating history. There is also a magnificent art collection here, something definitely not to miss.
