Five of the best walks in and around Leeds

Emilija Morrison: Business Development Assistant

We've already covered some of the things you can do in Leeds, as well as some of the best restaurants and best cafes the city has to offer. Today, we cover our favourite walks within the city, we hope we inspire you to try at least a few!

1. The Meanwood Valley Trail Circular

A few minutes away from the city centre, this gem is worth trying out. It is 6.9km long and the perfect place to go dog walking, for instance. Whilst it can get quite muddy, at times, the views make it well worth it.

2. Harewood Circuit

At 7.6km, this easy walk takes around two hours to complete. We've written about the stately home Harewood House and luckily, the trail passes close by to the home. (So definitely worth a visit!) As to be expected, the views on this trail are also magnificent.

3. Eccup Reservoir Circle

At 8.7km long, this takes just over two hours to walk. It can get pretty muddy, so be sure to take your welly boots with you on the walk. The ideal time of year to walk this route is between March and October.

4. RSPB St Aidan's and Lowther Lake Circular

This one is 10.1km long and on the walk you can spot all sorts of birds such as skylark, short-eared owl, marsh harrier and bittern. Be careful in the sun, however, as the walk offers no shade - make sure to bring a bottle of water with you in order to stay hydrated.

5. Ledsham to Fairburn Ings

This walk is 8km long and is the perfect place for a peaceful walk on a sunny day. Of course, you don't have to necessarily take the walk at a slow pace - you could always run here instead. Like other walks on this list, you'll also be passing gorgeous nature and scenery.
